I've been on both sides of the table.

Before becoming a business owner, I spent 11 years with Argos, working across retail operations, multisite management and project delivery.

I bought my first business in 2009.

Since then, I've bought, sold, and opened eight businesses.

Today, I co-own the Norwich Specsavers Group Franchise, which I've grown from seven-figure to eight figure turnover over a six year period.

I'm also actively looking at and investing in business outside my original specialism. 

But my experience isn't limited to building and buying businesses myself.

For the past seven years, I've also coached and mentored people on both sides of the journey.

I've worked with executives looking to leave corporate life and acquire their first business, helping them understand what to look for, how to assess an opportunity and how to approach becoming a business owner.

And i've worked with existing business owners looking to scale, helping them navigate the chalelnges that come with building a bigger, stronger and less owner dependent business.

That experience has given me  an unusual perspective.

I understand what buyers are looking for.

I understand the challenges owners are dealing with.

And I understand the gap that can exist between the two.

So BN8 hasn't been created from a business coaching textbook.

It has been shaped by operating businesses, growing businesses, buying businesses, selling businesses, investing in businesses and spending seven years coaching and mentoring the people who want to own and grow them.

Those experiences allow me took at a business from two very different perspectives.

As an owner:

How do I build a stronger, more profitable business that doesn't depend on me?

As a buyer:

Would I want to own this business and what would give me the confidence to buy it?

Those two questions can produce very different answers.
